Sam and Maria spot each other outside the drag dance, Sam is wearing a bright green dress with puffy sleeves and Maria is dressed like a lumberjack in red plaid.
MARIA: Hey Sam, looking good!
SAM:Thank you, handsome stranger!
They both look at Wren, who stands in a gray shirt and black tie with crossed arms.
MARIA: Wow. I’m impressed that you actually got Wren to come out. She hates this stuff. The being-social stuff.
WREN: Har har.
SAM: And she’s butch, too! You match.
WREN: I am not trying to be butch.
SAM: What are you, then?
WREN: I am the opposite of what I usually am. Isn’t that the point?
MARIA: Oooh, are you a no-nonsense business person?
SAM: No, I got it, it's republican drag.
Wren storms away, Sam and Maria smirk.
WREN: I’m a person who dresses up for events! Is there free food here or what?

I also love the concept of Republican drag (I’d probably have to finick the concept a little bit, since up here ‘republican’ has some distinctly fringe radical connotations).
