Once upon a time, I wrote a blog (a real one), and I wrote about Dollhouse. It ended this week, and, it’s, embarrassing how upset I am about that. I don’t think it’s a spoiler to say, I could do without the NINE MILLION fat jokes in the finale. What the fuck, Joss?
No new links recently – classes started and I have less internet-crawling time – but Bao Phi wrote this piece about being a nerd of color. Read it!
I tend to use whole websites for the links page instead of individual articles, but hey! Maybe that will change someday.

↓ TranscriptMARIA: Hey! How about a roller derby team? They would have this pre-established team dynamic, and more characters means more ideas we can incorporate!
WREN: Uh, they would also have a pre-established TOTALLY BADASS dynamic! I'm in.
SAM: I have always thought of women's roller derby as somewhat revolutionary in its celebration of female aggression.
WREN: We could give it a sci-fi edge and have the villain be this medical technology corporation that is really creating weaponized cyborg tech. And our team gets their superpowers by being exploited as test subjects!
SAM: No! Now you're doing that Joss Whedon thing that I hate: woman non-consensually gets superpowers at the hands of creepy men who want to use her. She turns the tables on them, but her life is ruined. Also, she is IMPROBABLY thin.
WREN: Well, don't you think that could be - aside from the skinny thing - a valid metaphor for patriarchy? Men treating women like objects, women using their limited power in unexpected ways to unravel their oppression, liberation being a lifelong struggle?
WREN: Besides, we can't all be hot elves that have magical orgasms during lady sex.
SAM: H-How do you know about that??
MARIA: Oh, come on, Sam, we've both read your short stories.
